winter

By Jessika Hughes

The moon hangs like a sparkling ornament

                            Stars like Christmas lights

                             Natural beauty adorns it

The sky a blank canvas for winter nights

                                   Snow has yet to fall

Creatures tuck in from the cold

Desiring a reprieve from it all

                           Stillness, a sight to behold

                       Warmth versus winter inside

           Under blankets, eager children reside
